People may fish from piers and off
boats. Fishing permits and bait may be bought from fishing
shops in Balatonboglar and other lakeside resorts. Apart
from Lake Balaton, there are several fishing lakes in the area
that are well stocked with freshwater fish such as carp, bream,
zander and catfish. There are various fishing competitions
around Lake Balaton. One annual competition lasts four days
and the winning catch one year was over 200 kilos.
